Sorry Its Been A While

Well, the colder weather is setting in.  The river is almost off limits because it is so cold.

Along with the freak snow storm in September we have encountered a few other problems.

Before the snow got too bad we had to scramble to find winter clothes and boots.  Just as we got to the school the lights went out so we were without power for a few hours.

Anyway it was a good time to catch up on some reading.  I was worried about taking the dogs to the park with all the trees falling all over but once it started to melt the limbs of trees were falling less and less but it still looked bad at the park.
Dexter and Rufus did not seem to mind that much so we stayed and pulled some of the fallen trees out of the way so that people coming behind us would not have to climb over them the way we had to .  As you can see Rufus is ready for the snow to come again.

The dogs found a snowman that some children had made and at first Dexter and Rufus were casing it out and really not sure what to do. They both were barking at it and just keeping their distance.  That was until Chicha got in there and took out one of the sticks that were used as arms.

After she got close they must have thought that it was harmless because they all started really checking it out up close.

The end of September also brought a really scary time for me.

We had just come home from the park and it was warm in the house so I opened the patio door.  Dexter came running at me and I thought that he was going to jump up on the chair with me.  Instead he had a seizure.  I was very scared that maybe he had eaten something at the park and was poisoned but it was just a seizure so after a trip to the vet hospital and a bunch of money later we were told that it may never happen again or it could happen the same time next year.  Either way I now know how to handle it on my own.  Dexter did have to stay at the hospital for about 6 hours.  When I came home with out him, Bella and Rufus were both a little unsure of why Dexter was not home.  |

After about 3 hours, Bella came over to me and started pulling on my pant leg with her mouth.  When I got up off the chair she raced for the door.  When I followed her she looked at my shoes as if to say, "well, go and get him".  When I came back and sat down for a bit waiting for the vet to call me to say that he could come home she was laying on me and pulling at my clothes to get my attention so that she could tell me to go and get him.
Once I got him home he was just so happy to have a ball that he fell asleep with it in his mouth for a bit until we went to bed.

Once I got into bed he snuggled up close to me and fell asleep almost immediately.  Within a couple of minutes Bella came up and snuggled close to Dexter and even wiggled under his front paw and they slept that way the whole night.  They really are good friends.
I am sure that they sleep like this when we are not home as well. I know that they play and cuddle when they are both on my lap.

Rufus just sniffed him all over then went back to bed.  He was so worried that he just thought it best if he just slept and did not pace any more.

The next morning we were all back to normal.  Dexter was his usual OBD (obsessive ball disorder) and Rufus just ate his breakfast and went back to bed.
